Our Team, the Filter Chiro Fam
Meet the people who make what we do possible!

Dr. Brian Filter, DC
Chiropractor, Owner
As I was growing up, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a dad like mine was to me, and I wanted to be a pediatrician. As time went on, things fell right into place. I attended college at Clemson University, and I was in love with an incredible girl. I only had one major problem...I hurt all the time. My neck was stiff, and I couldn't think straight because of my severe headaches. I started having bad headaches in high school after some sporting injuries and a round of meningitis. I wasn't sure how to fix it or what I was going to do. That's when I turned to chiropractic. To my surprise, it worked! I decided that if someone could do that with just their hands, that's what I wanted to do. So after talking to my soon to be wife, we decided to make the switch. I started doing a lot of research and met with several chiropractors. I toured at Sherman College of Chiropractic and knew it was the right fit for me.
As a chiropractor, I do feel that I am different than most of the other doctors you have or will come across. First, I am patient oriented. And I'm not just saying that because it sounds good. I don't use any "bait and switch" tactics or offer gimmicks just to get you in. Once I start treating you, I will not do things just to up sell a visit so that I can make a quick buck. When I make recommendations, you will know why I think it's best, and together we will work toward getting you well.
Second, knowledge is power. To get better at what you do, you have to practice, learn new things, and be willing to grow. Each year of experience as a provider should show obvious improvements in growth. It shouldn't be an exact repeat of the knowledge and skill level of the year before. I enjoy continuing education classes/seminars and love doing my own research into why our bodies and minds work the way they do. I'm willing to do what it takes for my patients, and I truly want to help them because I've been there, and I know what it's like.
Dr. Miranda LaFrage, DC
Chiropractor, Webster Technique certified, ICPA member
I was a gymnast for nine years. During that time, I started going to see a chiropractor to improve my performance. At a young age I was interested in the medical field, but after seeing the results and benefits from my chiropractic care, I knew chiropractic was the right fit for me! I grew up here in the Midlands, and I am thrilled to be able to practice in the place I call home.
I am very close with my own family, and families are my passion! I am certified in Webster Technique, which is used for pregnant women. I also specialize in pediatric chiropractic care. I have studied the development of children from infant to adolescent and how chiropractic care can help with physical and neurological development.
I love treating families, and I want to be able to see everyone! My dream would be to see generations of patients! I want to see people be able to enjoy their lives and move and function better. I enjoy helping people improve their true health and function at 100% without having to get surgery. I love the "whole body" approach to treating physical ailments and getting down to the root of the problem by making sure the whole body is in line.

Dr. Ashley Heyward, DC
Chiropractor, Graston Technique Provider
At a young age I fell in love with science and biology. In high school I decided to become a doctor as I had a joy for helping people. During my undergraduate studies at South Carolina State University, I joined the Health Professions Society to explore the many aspects of the medical and health related fields. We took a trip to Sherman College of Chiropractic where I realized I wanted to become a chiropractor. After graduation I went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida.
As a child I played soccer, and in adolescence I began having migraines. They were so debilitating that it led to missed games and activities with friends. Since I averaged 2-4 migraines per week, I was prescribed medication at eleven years old. At the time I knew of no other options nor was I given any. In chiropractic school I learned a great deal about my condition. While receiving regular adjustments along with changing my nutritional lifestyle, my migraines began to decrease in frequency and intensity. This led to only getting 2-3 migraines a year, as chiropractic changed my life.
I am certified as a Graston Technique Provider. The Graston procedure detects and treats areas of soft tissue lesion or adhesions in muscles, tendons and ligaments that can lead to pain and dysfunction. Graston Technique instruments have been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating acute and chronic conditions.
I strive to promote the many benefits of chiropractic care through education and treatment. I believe everyone should have a chance to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle by taking care of their body's core needs in a natural way. I am excited to be a part of this amazing team and to grow with this community.

Front Desk, Turtle Enthusiast
Charleston native who planted new roots in Columbia with my family in 2019. I'm married to a supportive husband who is also my best friend. We have 2 sons and 2 daughters, a couple coon hounds, a lab rescue, a cat as well as a few critters that keep life interesting.
Behind the plexiglass, I bring warmth, laughter, and a knack for filling the schedule and keeping patient flow running smoothly. I prioritize clean, organized operations so every patient feels welcomed and comfortable and yes, I make sure the front desk is properly aligned, because crooked desks are bad for your posture! Away from the desk when I’m not scheduling and sanitizing, you’ll find me cheering for Carolina Football, fishing, cooking and baking up something delicious, or attempting to become a master gardener while my turtles silently judge my efforts.

I was born and raised all over the west coast (including Alaska) and have recently settled here in South Carolina due to me getting married! Also, having lived in Tennessee for a year and a half, I am no stranger to the weather and the wonderful people of the south. My favorite things to do include spending time with my family, sewing, crocheting, karaoke, learning new things, and watching some good shows. I am fluent in Spanish and am working to improve that ability everyday. The way to my heart is definitely through treats and giggles! But don’t tickle me. Seriously.
